Clinical Supervision In Scotland

Hypnotherapy Supervision ScotlandAs a member of the NCH I am committed to ensuring high standards of clinical care within the profession and as such my passion has taken me to train as a Clinical Supervisor. I have been trained in the solution-focused model of supervision (the current model used by the NCH). This model allows me to support you in all aspects of your development to help increase both your confidence and competence as a therapist. The supervision I offer is designed to provide you with the support, encouragement and confidence to help you to manage your clients and to grow your practice as a whole, whilst respecting your individual training, therapeutic approach and professional philosophy.

As a practising clinical hypnotherapist you are required as part of the relevant organisations you belong to (NCH, APHP, NCP, AfSFH, GHR, etc. as detailed in their recommended codes of practice) to have supervision sessions. It is up to you to ensure that you meet the requirements of the relevant associations you are a member of. Most require a minimum of 6 sessions per year and this can include sessions carried out via Skype, phone, or face-to-face. Face-to-face sessions are normally conducted at my flagship clinic in Polmont. However I can see you in Livingston if that is more convenient for you. I offer individual supervision sessions on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis depending on your needs and in line with your practice size and level of experience, confidence and competence. Each and every supervision session is offered with a flexible approach tailored to the individual needs and requirements of my supervisees.

I also offer group supervision via Skype.  If you  would be interested in taking part in a group on a monthly basis, please do get in touch. The benefits of group supervision is that we all can learn from each other and everyone brings something different to the session so they are a great way for everyone to increase their skills and knowledge.

I run a very busy full-time practice in Polmont and have a special interest in dealing with Anxiety Disorders and Depression.  I am committed to continuing my own professional development and continue to do 15-25 hours CPD every year. Having had 3 different supervisors in my career as a Hypnotherapist I would say that it is very important to choose the right supervisor for you. This needs to be (as with therapy) someone you connect with, someone you feel supported by, and someone who understands you and your practice. If you are interested in finding out more about my approach to supervision, please feel free to email me at heather@hmh-therapy.co.uk or give me a call on 07787 807 609 where we can discuss your requirements and we can find out more about each other.

I also run a monthly Peer Group for local hypnotherapists.  This is a supportive group for hypnotherapist of all levels where we meet and discuss best practice, feedback to the group on any conferences we have been to or CPD with have had.  We also have different speakers attend (some from within the group) to give talks on their area of expertise.  We have also had a visit from the NCH Board, who came to give our group support and opened a two way communication stream between ourselves and one of the biggest Hypnotherapy Professional Bodies.
